United Methodist Women – October 2017

September 26th, 2017 by Kali Lewis

Please take note of the meeting date change for the October meeting of our United Methodist Women’s group. Because of the Marquette District Celebration to be held the first Tuesday of the month in Newberry, our October meeting will be held the first Wednesday of the month, Oct. 4 at 1 PM in our church Fellowship Hall. This will be our annual Pledge Service so we hope all will be able to attend.

The annual UMW Sunday has been set for Sunday, Nov. 12. This service will be conducted entirely by our church women so expect a call from Mary Prater, who is coordinating the service. The featured speaker may be the new Camp Michigamme      director. Plans are not firm at this writing.

The new slate of UMW officers was confirmed at the September meeting. All officers will remain the same as printed in our UMW booklet, except for the treasurer. This office will be assumed by Linda Moon.

Plans for the December Tea will be the main topic at our November meeting. Other than the theme, Snowflakes, nothing has been decided at this time. Details of the tea will be discussed at the Tuesday, Nov. 7 meeting. This will also be our annual Thank Offering Service.

It is now time to begin working on the 2018 Reading Program. There is always room for more of you to join in. There are many interesting and timely books available on our library shelves to pique your interest. Read and be informed. See Mary Prater for more information.

Don’t forget our monthly Hymn Sing held the first Monday of the month at Schoolcraft Medical Care Facility. The program of music and a brief talk is from 10:00 to 10:30 AM and is open to all.
