UNITED METHODIST WOMEN – OCTOBER 2015

September 30th, 2015 by Kali Lewis

The registration forms are now available for the Marquette District United Methodist Women’s Celebration to be held Tuesday, Oct. 6, in St. Ignace. If you have not already completed yours, there may still be time to submit it. See Darlene Pruess if you are interested. Our unit will pay the $10 per person to attend. A car pool is being arranged if you don’t want to drive.
Big changes are just ahead for our UMW Unit. There will no longer be two separate circles. Instead, our unit will be known simply as the United Methodist Women of Manistique FUMC. We will be meeting at 1 PM on the third Tuesday of the month instead of on the first Wednesday.  We will have General Meetings about four times a year and the other months we will have a program meeting. The next scheduled meeting will be at 1 PM, Tuesday, Oct. 20 at the church. This General Meeting will be our annual Pledge Service. The meeting will be followed by a dessert, rather than beginning with a light meal.
Looking ahead, November’s meeting will be Tuesday, Nov. 17. This will be our annual Thank Offering. Also coming up soon will be our annual Christmas Tea and UMW Christmas Party. The dates have yet to be determined, but it’s not too soon to begin planning our contributions to the mini-bazaar and cookie walk.
Our regular monthly hymn sing will continue to be held the first Monday of each month at 10 AM at the Medical Care Facility. Newcomers are always welcome.
The 2015 UMW reading program is now over but some of us are already on our way in the 2016 program. There will be many new books on the reading list and I’m sure many new titles will be available at the District Celebration. If you are new to the UMW here and/or are interested in getting in on the reading program, see May Prater for more details. Read and be informed!UMW
