Don’t miss this one!

The United Methodist Women of Manistique First will host their annual Christmas Party Wednesday, Dec. 7, and invite the entire church to attend. The event begins at 5 PM with a potluck dinner and will be followed with a seasonal program of music and other entertainment.

The planning committee decided to hold the party following the monthly Administrative Council meeting so that more of our members may attend. Hope to see you there.

If it is not too late, may we remind you of the annual UMW Christmas Tea, which takes place Saturday, Dec. 3, at 1 PM. This event is always open to the community so be sure to invite your friends. In addition to a seasonal program, there will be the popular Cookie Walk and a mini Gourmet Bazaar, featuring homemade goodies from our members’ kitchens. Proceeds will benefit local charities.

The next UMW General Meeting will be Tuesday, Jan. 3, at 1 PM at the church. Why not make a New Year’s resolution to join us. The meetings are fun and informative, and a yummy dessert is always served. Meetings are open to all United Methodist Church women. We encourage you to join in with the fellowship.

Several UMW members are well on their way into the 2017 Reading Program and we invite newcomers to join us. There are many new books added to the UMW library shelves that are certain to whet your appetite for reading. We invite you to check them out. For more information on the Reading Program, see Mary Prater. Read and be informed!

We continue to conduct our monthly hymn sings at the Medical Care Facility. We meet the first Monday of the month at 10 AM to present a half hour of song and meditation for the residents. All interested, men as well as women, are encouraged to participate. For more information, see Phyllis Burge.
