A View From The Belfry

A View from the Belfry batWOW! Did you hear the gospel ensemble we had in church on February 8? They were awesome! The members of the group are mostly seventh graders, which means they have been playing their instruments for only about a year, but they did a fantastic job! Thanks kids, and Mr. Connin, who directs the group. I sure hope they can come back again, and again, and again! It just goes to show that we have a lot of talent in this area!
I understand that it’s Lent now, which means it won’t be too long before it will be Easter, and SPRING! People often give up things for Lent, in remembrance of what Jesus did on the cross. He gave up His life for us! Now, I’m not sure what I should give up. Maybe mosquitos? However, I feel that I perform a service by eating mosquitos, since humans seem to be unfavorably disposed toward them. If I gave them up, there would be even more to contend with! So maybe this year instead of giving up something like mosquitos, I’ll pledge to perform some service for others. Jesus certainly did that, too, on the cross. My service might be to eat twice as many mosquitos! I’d be doing something to help out with the mosquito problem, and I’d enjoy it too! That’s a win-win situation, right? This year, instead of giving up something for Lent, why not trying giving a bit of your time and money to help others? Who knows? You just might enjoy it, too!
